Now, to the goodies. I couldn't help myself. Ever since I saw the Star Wars facebooks, I've been wanting to play around with these. I hope I can do more some other time, but here are my first few...

Lost Season 6 Premiere
As I try to keep all my reviews spoiler free, this is a SERIOUSLY tough one to do that with!
Definitely liked it, and it was SO worth the wait. It was quite heavy on the supernatural. Though most of Lost seems that way to me. It's sci fi, but it's supernatural/mythological too. I enjoy those aspects of it. I thought it was all very interesting and well done, I can't wait until the next episode. I also think I might know what is going on... I have a few good theories at least. I should look up one of those Lost theory sites (or livejournal communities) and post them.
It's such a good show, and shows another side of what sci fi, and yeah, even fantasy, can be. For that reason I think it's HUGELY important to the genre.
Gah. I really want to post spoilers, but I just don't think that's the right thing to do on a blog, especially less than a week after the initial airing of a show. ^__^

Headshots- Unexpectedly Geeky, Truly Awesome
I had an amazing time with my photographer, Mark Moore. He does great stuff, including taking absolutely gorgeous pictures at Michigan Renaissance Festival. We did some classic headshot stuff in a few different outfits, and then we did one "character" shot. You know my mission! Sci Fi, baby! So I said to Mark, "Let's do something sci-fi inspired and a little bad ass." Mark had a frakkin' cool idea for the lighting, and I donned my leather jacket.
Mark watches a lot of the same shows as I do, so we made a lot of Sanctuary references, and even some BSG references while shooting. I was giving Magnus "Get the hell outta my Sanctuary" face, and Kara Thrace "I don't need a Viper to frak you up" face, and Six "Welcome to my basestar, motherfrakker" face.
You want to see, don't you?! So did I! So did Mark! So he processed this shot, like seriously, same night.

I looooove it. I can't wait to see how the rest turned out. w00t! Happy Fangirl!

Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone
My "Acting for Film" class starts tomorrow night, at the Michigan Actor's Studio. First (non street theatre, non stage combat) acting class in 5 years. Holy Hannah. I am excited! I am nervous!
Excited to step outside my comfort zone, excited to put myself out there. Excited to learn, because learning is growing, and I never want to stop that. Excited to meet new people!
Nervous, because I don't know what to expect! Nervous, in case I am no good. Nervous that I might get lost, or stuck in traffic and be late.
Nervous and excited. At least I know I will have good energy.

^___^
Whoa. I am so geeked for the Sanctuary finale tonight on Syfy that I could pee myself! I won't, but I could. From the production stills, I can tell is going to look so GOSH DARN LOVELY! Anyway, that's my shuper happy face!
On to the (quick) fannish blogging, which I owe you!
So, did see Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. And it was good. Better than I expect. I wasn't very geeked for it, because, honestly, BSG is over and done, and Caprica is different (though exciting), and I wanted to see The Plan, but I didn't feel desperate for it. Watching though, I really liked it. I shall try not to be spoilery, but still hit on highlights.
All the parts with the Chief. The Five being a total idiot. Brother Cavil being psychopathic. Sixes being ultimate sex, like they do. And Boomer. Oh, Boomer. I do think we needed and deserved to see what was going through Boomer's frakked up and conflicted little mind. So that was all kinds of wonderful. I will have to watch the finale again, knowing now what I do of Boomer from The Plan, and see how that meshes.
Also, watched the Chuck season premiere, but missed the next episode the very next night! Hulu? Maybe? Anyway, it was fun and enjoyable and pretty much what I expect out of Chuck. The "No more Mr. Nice Spy" thing is a total misnomer, imho. But yes, Chuck is clearly developing as a character. He is so much pure hero, and so little anti-hero. It's very cute. Is it enough to make me skip watching House? This week it was not. Sorry NBC!
I have begun watching Supernatural. Slowly and carefully. I need to get more familiar with all the sci fi TV out there, and Supernatural is a pretty big hit. I can't tell if it's more sci-fi or horror/action, yet. It's interesting, and I want to watch more, even if I'm constantly in fear of things jumping out and scaring the bajeebus out of me.
And that's it for now. Getting incredibly excited for Sanctuary "Kali" on Syfy. Less than 2 hours. I am so stoked!

Eeeep! Behind already!
After watching the Chuck season premiere last night, and also Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, I have much fannish updating to do! However, I need to get my real life updating out there first!
Fat-loss mission! Which is not just weight-loss, but also toning. I managed to knock another half inch off my ample hip measurements. 34 1/2 around the hip bones, and 38 around the biggest part of my butt. Last week, I lost one pound. I was going for 2, so that's a bit of a bummer. I am trying not to get disappointed though. I am only 7 lbs over my goal weight, so if I lose a pound per week, I'll still be ready to go in less than 2 months.
If you like to play the numbers game, things look like this:
Chest: 36 inches, 34 D
Waist: 25.5 inches
Hips: 34.5 upper, 38 lower
Height: 5'3"!! (I am an inch taller than I thought I was, how weird is that?)
Weight: 122.4
And, actorly-wise. I called the Michigan Actor's Studio and talked to someone there about their Acting for Film Class. Got permission to attend that class, without having to attend their basic acting class first. Apparently my street-theatre cred, and community college acting course are acceptable prerequisites. Excellent. Very, very, VERY excited to be learning something new, especially something that will help me on my mission!
I think I'm also going to look into some stunt-training. I want to expand on my basic stage combat stuff. HOWEVER I AM A TOTAL PUSSY AND AFRAID OF HEIGHTS. Ha. Oh well. I will probably start going to a weekly sword-fighting stage combat group again. Just because I love it.

Stealing Magnus's Style
I loved Sanctuary "Haunted". I love, love, loved it. It was exciting and gut-wrenching and well-acted (Christopher Heyendahl you genius, you!!), even a little fun. And Helen was wearing the cutest outfit, which I never would've thought to wear, but looked adorable on mah hero, Amanda Tapping. Anyway. Ganked Helen's kinda weird style and camh0red. You can bet I'm going out to dinner like this, too. XD
My quick attempt at an action-y pose. :D

Eureka
It's like, the middle of the off-season for fangirling this show, but the Eureka writers have a cool blog project going on at Eureka Unscripted, and now they've got me thinking about that show and why I love it.
It was a show I got hooked on early (or immediately). I think the cool sci-fi aspects, along with the one episode storylines of the first season were major attractors. But mostly, of course, I love the characters. Some of them are the fun, more flat, farcical characters, and some are strikingly real. Fargo and Taggart, and sometimes even Carter and Jo are practically caricatures. Whereas I think Zoe, Allison and Henry are very three-dimensional and they add realism and grit to the show.
It's a wonderful mixture, and it works very well for them. Seriously, check Eureka out. I think they did an outstanding job balancing out their characters.
Gosh, I'd love to play a Fargo or a Taggart kind of character. That's totally where my passion lies. Coming up with little quirks, and focusing on physicality, bringing the funny. Taking a few given character traits and turning those traits into a character that you might shake your head at, but that you can believe.

The Fangirl!
It's not that I hate talking about myself, it's just that I feel like I've been talking about myself all over the internet for ages and ages. But, there should be basics, so here they are:
I live in suburban Detroit, MI where I grew up. I'm married to my beautiful and brilliant husband, Mike, and we have a hilarious 3-year-old son named Nick.
I have an associates degree in Computer Graphics Technology from my local community college. I'm a secular humanist, and a bit of a hippie. I eat organics and health food, and I don't use paper towels or chemical cleansers. I'm short, at 5'2" and curvy at 123 lbs. I sing Christmas carols and madrigals, in a small group a capella setting.
Acting wise, I've been performing at Michigan Renaissance Festival since 2001, taking 1 year off after I had my kiddo. That's about it, to be perfectly honest with you. Street theatre at the festival has given an insatiable passion for playing, imagining and developing characters.
I have done a little modeling, and find it fun. I will share some photos in another post. :)
As for what I fangirl, I will be perfectly honest in saying that the SyFy Channel owns my soul, odd rebranding and all. I love Stargates. Battlestar Galactica was my favorite show of all time. I can't wait for Caprica. I adore Eureka. Warehouse 13 is fun I can't miss. And Sanctuary is currently my favorite show on television. I'm also very into LOST. I'm interested in seeing more Supernatural and I casually follow Fringe.
Those are the basics! Stay tuned for updates on my mission!
